Dosa Day Jeeyar Ashram Fund Raiser
Jaisrimannarayana! Food is an important part of any celebration all over the world, regardless of culture or religion. It can unite and strengthen community bonds, and helps to maintain a common identity amongst a group of people. Under the lovely weather, a large number of local community members attended our 4-hour Dosa Day Event in a successful fundraiser for temple maintanence at the Jeeyar Ashramam. It was the first-time for many visitors to the temple and our Priest Pawanswamy welcomed them and introduced temple services. Prajna and VTSEVA information tables were well received by parents who showed very much interest in joining their kids. Visitors enjoyed the menu and had a great time. Their favorite was combo mini meal which had Upma, Pongal, Idli, and Dosa served with Sambar and Chutneys prepared at Asramam by Aparnaji and team. Kids enjoyed Mango Lassi and had great time playing around the trees and in the sand. All the funds raised are going towards temple maintenance. The event was successful due to commited volunteers. VT SEVA NJ PVSA 2019 Awards Ceremony
“The measure of achievement is not winning awards. It’s doing that you appreciate something you believe is worthwhile”... These VT SEVA youth volunteers put hundreds of volunteering hours in doing community service and they believe that every moment is worthwhile. For some, “it helped them to grow as person,” and for others, the internship at our Tribal and Visually challenged schools in India, “changed their thinking on life perspective.” Congratulations to all winners of 2019 Presidential Volunteer Service Award! Despite the troubling times, you have all consistently shown your impressive dedication towards service locally and globally. It is common knowledge that you all inspire those you come across to be the best person they can be. Always remember that the service you have done, however large or small, will always have a positive impact on a life. Continue to do service and create positive change.
