VT Seva Seattle's Summer Events Supporting Sound Foundation NW to Build Tiny Homes:
This summer, VT Seva Seattle hosted two impactful events—the Unity Cup, a charity cricket tournament, and the Unity Walkathon—both aimed at raising funds to support Sound Foundation NW in building tiny homes for the homeless in the Greater Seattle Area.
The Unity Cup saw enthusiastic participation from nine teams, all competing with a shared goal of making a difference. This event marked the beginning of what we hope will be an annual tradition, born from Swamiji's visit last year, where he encouraged us to partner with local non-profits to support local causes.
With 16,000 homeless individuals in the Greater Seattle Area, each tiny home has the potential to support about 60 families over its lifetime. Our contribution, though modest, will make a significant impact on the lives of those in need across our region. Together, we are not just building homes; we are building hope and creating
lasting change in our community.
Another exciting event to support NW Sound Foundations was Unity Walkathon. Walkathon brought together over 70 participants, including many youth members, who walked in solidarity for the same cause. The combined efforts of these events raised over $6,500, which will be used to build a tiny home on behalf of VT Seva.
Ongoing Music Events at Senior Centers
For some time now, our volunteers have been organizing musical events at senior centers, bringing joy and comfort to the elderly through music. These ongoing events have fostered deeper connections and brought much-needed entertainment and companionship to seniors.
Ongoing Operation Sack Lunch (OSL) Events
Continuing our recurring food packing events at OSL, we've been consistently helping provide meals to those in need throughout the summer.
