What happens when you combine the irresisitible appeal of donuts with a hearftfeltmission to fight hunger? Sudheeshna Nune, the Youth Lead of VT Seva's Chicago branch, shared these thoughts about her experience with the fundraising effort she led in Chicago.
The Vision
VT Seva is an organization driven by compassion and a commitment to service in areas such as healthcare, education, and humanitarian aid. One of its core programs, Feeding Hope, focuses on providing nutritious meals to blind and underprivileged students in schools and colleges.
This initiative has made a significant impact in various regions. To expand its reach, I, as the Youth Lead of VT Seva’s Chicago branch, decided to organize a fundraiser in collaboration with Krispy Kreme. This event blended the irresistible appeal of Krispy Kreme's sweet treats with the community's desire to make a difference. Thanks to extensive outreach and tireless efforts, the event was a resounding success.
The Preparation
I started by seeking local partnerships willing to collaborate with VT Seva’s Chicago branch to create a donation initiative as a gesture of gratitude for our supporters. During my search, I discovered Krispy Kreme, a company renowned for its community support. They generously agreed to provide donuts at a discounted rate to those contributing to the cause.
With the partnership finalized, I began planning multiple events to promote the fundraiser.
Promotion
To spread the word, I reached out to family, friends, and local community groups via platforms like Whatsapp and Facebook, sharing an encouraging message to support the cause by purchasing Krispy Kreme donuts.
Additionally, I contacted local sports clubs, businesses, and medical offices to generate interest and gain additional supporters. These outreach efforts helped broaden our audience and increased participation in the fundraiser.
Impact
The program allowed many individuals to enjoy Krispy Kreme’s delicious donuts while contributing to the Feeding Hope initiative. The funds raised provided nutritious meals to students in blind schools in India.
The event not only helped the program reach a broader and more diverse audience but also raised awareness about global issues like hunger and malnutrition.
Acknowledgments
This fundraiser was a sweet success thanks to the unwavering support of Chicago Branch Director, Sridevi Ranga, who provided encouragement throughout the journey. Additionally, the guidance and management of Vanitha Ji helped me explore new promotional techniques, ultimately leading to a greater number of supporters.
