 Sneakers Drive (April 2024):

Shoes are an essential part of protecting oneself from harmful factors in the environment, and many of us probably own multiple pairs. However, there are many people that lack this essential item. VT Seva Detroit Youth Board volunteers addressed this crucial need for sneakers, by participating in a Sneakers Drive. They successfully collected about 120 pairs of gently used shoes. By reselling usable sneakers in secondhand markets and recycling heavily worn shoes, the Youth Board not only provided affordable footwear to those in need but also contributed to environmental sustainability.

Greeting Card Project (April-May):

Parents play a huge role in the life of every child and we all know that they don’t get enough credit for it. Some parents in senior centers receive none. To ensure that every mother and father knows that they are appreciated for all the hard work they do, our Youth Board has come up with this project. This endeavor not only brings joy to the elderly recipients but also offers a meaningful experience for the young participants. It bridges generational gaps and fosters a sense of continuity and respect across ages, reinforcing societal values of compassion and appreciation.

VTS Club Events:

Forget-ME-Not flower making event (April  & May):

Forget-me-nots symbolize true love and respect. When you give someone these tiny blooms, it represents a promise that you will always remember them and will keep them in your thoughts. The little blue Forget-Me_Nots are a symbol of remembrance, dating back to World War I, when they were used to commemorate the lives of soldiers, servicemen & women lost in fighting. This year DAV is planning to make 500,000 nationwide. This project will help disabled veterans.

VT Seva youths all around the nation are participating in this service activity. 3 High School clubs in VT Seva Detroit are Troy IAE VTS Club, Troy High VTS Club and North Farmington HS VTS Club came together and made 5000 flowers in multiple sessions. It was a great collaborative event between 3 school clubs from 2 different cities.
