  • VT Seva Atlanta Summer Camp Graduation

This year’s VT Seva Summer Camp, held from June 1st to July 31st, provided a wonderful platform for high school youth to volunteer as tutors for elementary students. The camp featured one-on-one sessions in Math and English, along with group activities like Chess, Dance, Entrepreneurship, and Robotics and many more.... One of the highlights of the camp was the opportunity for our youth tutors to work with special needs children from Laurel Heights Hospital. This experience deepened the impact of the program and allowed tutors to develop patience and empathy, alongside leadership, communication, and time management skills. The camp concluded with a special appreciation event, celebrating the contributions of our Youth Tutors , Students and Mentors. A total of 84 students graduated, and 56 youth tutors were recognized for their dedication. The support from parents was invaluable throughout the program. Additionally, all our Tutors, Students and Mentors received special recognition from the hospital’s CEO and Director of Education, in appreciation of their commitment and service mindset. Overall, VT Seva Summer Camp 2024 was a memorable and successful event, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in summer 2025!

They collected 6 bags of trash. By keeping the road litter-free, it reinforces our sense of civic responsibility and save tax payers money! Brannon Road - October 29th The youths of VT Seva had gathered together to help clean up Brannon Rd. Gathering early in the morning, all youths put on vests, and gloves and grabbed both trash bags and grabbers. After getting ready to go youths started walking down from the traffic light for around 1 mile (1.7 kilometers) .They covered this distance in 3 hours. During the walk youths gathered up all sorts of plastics, paper, metals and other discarded items. One even found a leaf blower! In all, around 10 bags were filled up fully. Halfway through the walk the bags were picked up and volunteers received new and empty ones to fill up with trash. The youths talked, told stories, and made jokes during the event. High spirits were kept up throughout the whole clean up! About 35 volunteers showed up to help. We live on this earth and we need to work together to keep our home clean. That is how we can live in harmony with the environment. Shakerag Park Cleanup 2023 VT Seva Northview youths took the initiative to adopt Shakerag park and lend a hand in cleaning it, bringing Atlanta one step closer to being clean, green, and serene! This park clean up event attracted over 40 Atlanta youths, who all teamed up to pick up trash laying around. Atlanta youths once again went above and beyond in exhibiting their leadership skills by showing how deeply they cared for their very own mother nature. The third meeting for the VT Seva exhibit event also took place at this park. This exhibit was an opportunity to showcase everything that the Atlanta Branch of VT Seva accomplished over the past few years to the highly respected Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji, CEO of VT Seva, who graced Atlanta with his presence on July 19th, 2023. Youths expressed a deep interest in being a part of displaying what all VT Seva Atlanta achieved to his holiness. Groups were finalized regarding who would present on what, ranging from the highly successful blankets for the homeless initiative to the high impact summer camp for younger children to make productive use of their summer. Overall, this park clean up event was a hit! Adopt-A-Road 2023 The world we live in is nothing short of a miracle. It is home to unparalleled beauty and wonders so marvelous they seem almost preposterous, for no man-made artifact can rival the bewitching allure of even the simplest forests. Each design, from the delicate etchings of leaves to the concentric circles of tree trunks to the twinkling glow of a rainbow, is remarkable, a paragon of beauty. In the words of Helen Keller: “To me a lush carpet of pine needles or spongy grass is more welcome than the most luxurious Persian rug.” This quote poetically encapsulates the ethereal charm of nature, incomparable to any manufactured luxuries. However, these places of beauty are quickly being disrupted, destroyed, and desecrated into a wasteland of modern industrialism. With no end to such devastation in sight, it is our responsibility to take matters in our hands and do something for our Mother Earth. Keeping this mantra in mind, VT SEVA adopted Old Atlanta Rd. and held their first trash pick-up on the auspicious day of Ram Navami. With around 50 VT SEVA volunteers working hand in hand to pick up any waste left behind, it was truly a heartwarming sight to see! This event was held on July 8th 2023 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and it commenced with a few inspirational words from our local city council member Dilip Tunki. Adopt-A-Road 2022 On March 18th, 2023, VT Seva Atlanta met at a parking lot near Brannon Rd to help clean the road. More than 35 VT youth and adult volunteers participated in the event, picking up trash alongside the road. Adults and children alike bonded over the experience as they worked together to ensure the road was clean. Through their collective efforts, they filled 9 garbage bags with trash. A special thanks to our adult volunteers who helped put this event together. Without your help, it surely wouldn't have been possible. Thanks to all the volunteers who came, and we hope to see many more cleanups in the future! March 5, 2023 : On March 5th, 2023, VT Seva Atlanta met at Publix near Old Atlanta Rd to help clean the road. 22 VT youth and 10 adult volunteers participated in the event, picking up trash alongside the road. Through their collective efforts, they filled 15 garbage bags with broken glass bottles, plastic bottles, caps, bags, tape, metal, and even a cardboard sign. This experience taught VT Seva volunteers an important lesson: what appears on the surface may not be true. Though our roads might look pretty clean at a glance, you can see how much trash is there once you get a deeper look. This reveals the potential environmental problems that might be hiding everywhere, unnoticed. We hope that through future cleanups, we may be able to reduce this problem and keep our community clean. A special thanks to our adult volunteers who helped put this event together. Without your help, it surely wouldn't have been possible. Thanks to all the volunteers who came, and we hope to see many more cleanups in the future! The world we live in is nothing short of a miracle. Nelson Mandela once said, “The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow,” and to see the children and youth of VT SEVA passionately spending their Sunday morning cleaning roads is incredibly uplifting! This was the first of many such road clean-up events, and one of VT SEVA’s many projects paving the road to a better world! Adopt A Road July 2024 VT Seva Atlanta youths no walked over 3 miles removing litter from each side of Brannon road on July 7th. More than 20 youths participated in the Rd clean up. • Summer of Service and Success!!!!

VT Seva Seattle's Summer Events Supporting Sound Foundation NW to Build Tiny Homes: This summer, VT Seva Seattle hosted two impactful events—the Unity Cup, a charity cricket tournament, and the Unity Walkathon—both aimed at raising funds to support  Sound Foundation NW  in building tiny homes for the homeless in the Greater Seattle Area. The Unity Cup saw enthusiastic participation from nine teams, all competing with a shared goal of making a difference. This event marked the beginning of what we hope will be an annual tradition, born from Swamiji's visit last year, where he encouraged us to partner with local non-profits to support local causes. With 16,000 homeless individuals in the Greater Seattle Area, each tiny home has the potential to support about 60 families over its lifetime. Our contribution, though modest, will make a significant impact on the lives of those in need across our region. Together, we are not just building homes; we are building hope and creating lasting change in our community. Another exciting event to support NW Sound Foundations was Unity Walkathon. Walkathon brought together over 70 participants, including many youth members, who walked in solidarity for the same cause. The combined efforts of these events raised over $6,500, which will be used to build a tiny home on behalf of VT Seva. Ongoing Music Events at Senior Centers For some time now, our volunteers have been organizing musical events at senior centers, bringing joy and comfort to the elderly through music. These ongoing events have fostered deeper connections and brought much-needed entertainment and companionship to seniors. Ongoing Operation Sack Lunch (OSL) Events Continuing our recurring food packing events at OSL, we've been consistently helping provide meals to those in need throughout the summer.

Past Events Summer of Service and Success Appreciation for Sammamish and Mill Creek Police Departments

  • A Heartwarming Experience: VTSeva Youth Show Appreciation for Sammamish and Mill Creek Police Departments

As part of our yearly programs, VTSeva took our youth on a meaningful visit to the Sammamish and Mill Creek Police departments to express our gratitude for their selfless service in protecting our communities. This experience not only allowed us to thank these dedicated individuals but also provided our youth with valuable insights into the life of a police officer. Our youth prepared a delicious lunch and handmade friendship bands to present to the police officers as a symbol of our respect and admiration for their tireless efforts. The officers were visibly moved by this kind gesture, and it was clear that such interactions are a rare occurrence in their line of work. During our visit, the youth had the opportunity to engage in open and honest conversations with the police officers. They learned about their daily responsibilities, motivations for joining the force, and the challenges they face on the job. This exchange not only educated our youth but also helped build bridges between the community and law enforcement. The Unseen Reality: The police officers shared a poignant perspective, highlighting the immense emotional toll their job takes. They emphasized that in just one year, they experience traumatic and gruesome incidents that a normal person may encounter in a lifetime. This stark reality check reminded us of the immense sacrifices they make to keep our communities safe. Empathy and Understanding: As we reflect on this experience, we are reminded of the importance of empathy and kindness towards our law enforcement officers. Next time you're stopped by a police officer, remember that they may have just witnessed something traumatic. Treat them with respect, kindness, and understanding. A little compassion can go a long way in making their difficult job a little more bearable. Breaking Barriers: The police officers expressed their gratitude for VTSeva's initiatives, highlighting that such interactions are essential for fostering understanding and respect between youth and law enforcement. They emphasized that these visits help develop leadership skills, compassion, and community involvement in our youth. Our visit to the Sammamish and Mill Creek Police departments was a heartwarming experience that left a lasting impact on both our youth and the officers. We are proud to be part of a movement that promotes appreciation, understanding, and community engagement. As VTSeva continues to expand its initiatives across 30 cities in the USA, we hope to inspire others to join us in building stronger, more compassionate communities. Let us come together to show our appreciation for those who serve and protect us. Organize a visit to your local police department, engage in meaningful conversations, and foster a sense of community. Together, we can make a difference and inspire a new generation of leaders.

  • VT Seva Detroit's Inaugural Basketball Tournament

On August 10, 2024, VT Seva Detroit hosted its first-ever Basketball Tournament, bringing the community together for an exciting day of sportsmanship and competition. The event was inspired by a spark of an idea from one of our dedicated Youth Volunteers, Tejas, which led to a thorough exploration of the possibility of organizing such a tournament. To gauge interest, we circulated a survey within the VT Seva WhatsApp groups, and the encouraging responses gave us the confidence to move forward. We opened registrations for two age categories: 10 to 13 years, and 14 years and above. The response was overwhelming, with two teams forming in the first category and 30 participants organizing into 10 teams in the second. The tournament showcased impressive talent and enthusiasm, with players demonstrating their skills and passion for the game. • Dance for a Cause 2024 - First Dance Fitness Event

First Dance Fitness Event from VT Seva Detroit along with Happy Feet Dance Academy A Celebration of Movement, Fitness, and Community   On Saturday, September 21, 2024, VT Seva Detroit  hosted its very first Dance Fitness  event—a groundbreaking initiative that blended fun, fitness, and philanthropy in a unique and impactful way in partnership with Ms. Arpitha Chakkudige of hAppy Feet Dance Academy  . This wasn’t just any event; it was a celebration of movement and a demonstration of how our community can come together to support a greater cause. Ms. Arpitha being one of the most popular dance choreographers in Metro Detroit, created an experience that was both exhilarating and meaningful. The Dance Fitness event was designed to promote physical fitness through engaging dance routines. But beyond just promoting a healthy lifestyle, every step taken during the session was for a noble cause. Each dollar raised from this high-energy event directly supported over seven visually challenged students at Nethra Vidyalaya , an institution dedicated to empowering visually impaired students through education, skills and talent development.   The event saw the enthusiastic participation of 60 individuals  from diverse backgrounds. From beginners to seasoned dancers, everyone came together on the dance floor, united by the common goal of supporting a worthy cause. The energy was profound as participants followed the dynamic choreography led by Ms. Arpitha, whose passion and expertise ensured that everyone stayed motivated and enjoyed every moment non-stop for an hour and half.  We truly thank and immense gratitude to Ms. Arpitha and Mr. Nishanth from Happy Feet Dance Academy for coming forward to help the amazing cause and many thanks to Arpitha for conducting such an electrifying Dance Fitness event Events like these wouldn’t be possible without the support of our sponsors. We were fortunate to have the backing of three generous sponsors— Zen Body & Skin Spa, Ms. Hima and VTSeva Detroit anonymous member —whose contributions helped make this event a success. On September 4th, 2024 , VT Seva Detroit volunteers had the unique opportunity to undergo Basic Life Support (BLS)  and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training, gaining invaluable life-saving skills. Hosted at the Novi Fire Department , the training was conducted through the American Heart Association  and led by experienced professionals, Fire Fighter   Krabach  and Lieutenant   Pierson . The session lasted 3.5 hours , from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM, and equipped volunteers with essential skills that could make all the difference in critical emergency situations. The course covered: ●        CPR for Adults and Children ●        Use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) ●        Barrier Mask use ●        Handling choking emergencies. This hands-on training involved extensive practice using mannequins, allowing volunteers to master techniques like chest compressions and valve mask breath support—key components of resuscitation when someone collapses due to a medical emergency like cardiac arrest or choking. The volunteers showed tremendous enthusiasm, practicing the life-saving techniques repeatedly under the careful supervision of Lt. Pierson and FF Krabach. Their guidance and expertise were instrumental in ensuring each participant gained confidence and competence in these critical skills. The session concluded with a 1:1 skills test , where each VT Seva Detroit volunteer had to demonstrate their knowledge and answer questions posed by the trainers. Volunteers who passed the test will receive a 2-year American Heart Association Certification Card  upon completion. This training was not just an educational experience but an empowering one, equipping volunteers to act as first responders in emergency situations. VT Seva Detroit volunteers eagerly embraced the challenge, and it was a highly rewarding day for everyone who took part in the free certification course. This event is another step forward in VT Seva's commitment to serving the community and equipping volunteers with the tools they need to make a real difference. Reflections: Varshan Muhinthan It is nearly impossible to predict when someone will go into cardiac arrest. Not being able to perform the procedure to keep someone’s heart pumping in such a situation can cost a life. Being able to know exactly what to do if I come across a similar scenario is something that I very much appreciate for this very reason. Thanks to this opportunity, I not only learned the essentials of performing CPR but also feel confident in my ability to act according to possibly save a life in the future. Ritvik Harsha CPR training was an eye-opening experience that gave me the confidence to act in emergencies and potentially save lives. It’s empowering to know that a few simple techniques can make such a critical difference when someone's life is on the line. I very much encourage all youth to take advantage of this valuable training, as it not only enables you to respond in emergencies but also instills a sense of responsibility that everyone should have.

  • Bake sale hosted by Avni and Shraya with the help of their community for Feeding Hope program

Hunger remains one of the most common challenges facing our world today, impacting millions of lives daily. Stepping up and supporting this cause can create a huge impact on countries and the people in our world.  Our Story for Feeding Hope: We, Shraya Ved and Avni Patel, are youth volunteers at VTSEVA Detroit Youth Board. The "Feeding Hope" Program  at VT Seva provides the children of Nethra Vidyalaya schools, colleges, and tribal schools with nourishment and special meals sponsored by generous people.  This is a great initiative to provide the students of Nethra Vidyalaya with healthy meals . We are dedicated to contributing to this noble cause and helping the world in our own little way, so we started our initiative to do a bake sale, on July 13th 2024, in our subdivision and raise funds. Goal:   We started off by setting a goal of $400s, to be able to provide a minimum of 3 meals each for 3 days . Reach:  We spread the word of the bake sale through  friends, family, different neighborhoods  in Canton (that is where the bake sale was), Social Media  posts etc and also did some door to door sales at the end of the event.  Process:  At our home, we baked goodies like chocolate chip muffins, blueberry muffins, brownies, cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies and made fresh lemonade. On July 13th in our subdivision, with the help of our parents we set up a tent and arranged the items to be sold. We spent 5hrs from 1pm till 6pm  doing the sales. It was fun interacting with the customers and giving them insight into this wonderful Feeding Hope Program. Accomplishment:  With all the sales and donations,   we were able to raise $916  from this bake sale and far exceeded our expectations, allowing us to provide meals for 7 days  for the underprivileged and visually challenged children at the Nethra Vidyalaya school in India.  For more pictures, Please click here https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipOm2t8WRY14PRhcTV-1b9MHbv7Pe06PgIoB5rHec3D_t6D7JAwJ26f9G4wAB5yTWQ?key=bWpLVHluTjBmd1d3MWYwaDZJT0pfdUd3ZGNZX0Z3 Avni’s Reflections: Me and Shraya Ved had a bake sale to help raise money for the VT Seva Feeding Hope program . Selling these products we earned around $916.00 during our event. This was an amazing and inspiring experience. It let me see the reality of our society and let me get the experience to be a part of helping the people in it. This is an incredible opportunity and the more people that we take part in it the more we can help out our world! A world without hunger can impact our economics, health, education, and development as a society all in positive ways. Stepping up and supporting this cause can create a huge impact on countries and the people in our world. Shraya’s  Reflections: This being our first bake sale, we had a few trial and errors while baking.  The bake sale has been a very humbling and rich learning experience for both Avni and me. We have learned to plan, organize and execute an event. Of course, we made some errors and will make sure that we do not repeat it in our next event but the learning experience has been very valuable. Right from planning how much and how many varieties of baked goods to thinking of presentation and selling the goods, along with wrapping up the event with counting and calculating what we collected has been such an awesome experience. This hands-on experience will help us to transfer the skills we learned to different projects and activities we undertake later. We urge all youth to engage in activities to collect for this noble cause. We want all to know that this is an amazing opportunity that we are privileged to receive that allows us to make a difference, in whatever small way we can. There is no minimum amount that we need to raise, but we as a team did have a goal in mind. The guidance that we received from the VT Seva team members is also extremely valuable and we are so thankful for all the help. So, please consider participating in this cause and let us try and raise money so that no child goes to sleep hungry. Blog written by: Anvi Patel Blog published by: Nandini Cheemalamarri

  • VT Seva Atlanta - Books for Africa

June 16th 2024 Why Books For Africa? We believe that education is the great equalizer in the world, and books are at the foundation of a strong educational system. For many children in Africa, the gift of books truly is a gift of Hope Access to an education is one of the only opportunities young people have to end the cycle of poverty and attain a better quality of life than previous generations. Books For Africa works to help children who otherwise would not attend school by supplying educational materials to reduce or eliminate education costs. Most African children who attend school have never owned a book of their own. In many classrooms, 10-20 students share one textbook. Many people in the United States take these educational necessities for granted, but children in Africa cherish books. VT Seva Atlanta team strives to create a culture of literacy and provide the tools of empowerment to African children. On June 16, 2024, we collected 1,500 Books and 500 Notebooks. This is the highest amount of books we have ever collected so far in a single book drive. Our youths are super happy to empower their African friends through Books of Africa project! Dec 9th 2023 Atlanta VT Seva youths feel joy in sharing their books for their friends in Africa and we collected more than 1500 books on Dec 9, 2023. It’s a great eco-friendly project to re-use and recycle books to save on paper and also spread literacy in Africa. In 2023, Books For Africa shipped approximately 4,029,000 books, valued at over $32.6 million, to 32 African countries, the most books ever shipped by Books For Africa in a single year. We are very fortunate that VT Seva Atlanta has shipped 5,000 books in 2023 by conducting 3 book drives in a year and were able to do small contribution to spread literacy in Africa! There is a saying by Dr. Seuss, ‘The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go’, and we hope that our books will empower African children with knowledge and create pathways to accomplish their dreams. ‘Books For Africa’ is a simple project but its impact is transformative. It transform lives of African children and VT Seva Atlanta youths are very fortunate to be part of this positive transformation! July 2023 More than 50+ youths participated in Books For Africa Drive today. We donated more than 1200 books for African children. It’s a kid-to-kid project - Atlanta Kids helping African kids in spreading literacy in Africa 🌍. Mehar lead this Books for Africa drive. This is our Round 2 of Books For Africa in this year. • VT Seva Detroit Youth Led 4th Annual Walkathon

“The greatest wealth is health.” –Virgil.   On a sunny morning, the community came together for a cause close to their hearts. The VT Seva Detroit Youth, known for their passionate commitment to service, organized a highly successful walkathon to support families impacted by cancer. This event was a remarkable blend of dedication, compassion, and community spirit, making a significant impact on the lives of those facing the challenges of cancer. For 6 weeks our youth conducted a virtual walkathon, over this period, they were recruiting team members, walking, and tracking their miles. 36 Team Leads, 43 days, 235 participants raised $7000 and walked 14,081 miles!!!! VT Seva Detroit youths yet again proved their passion to help! VT Seva Detroit Youth Board successfully completed their 4th annual hybrid walkathon on July 13, 2024 , to support Angels of Hope  - A Family Cancer Foundation supporting Michigan families impacted by Cancer.   The youth encouraged their team members to walk every day and ensure everyone is staying active. They used this opportunity to learn about Michigan State Parks. It is a great way to combine physical activity with education and appreciation for the natural environment. They researched about the state parks in Michigan and shared the information with all their peers. The 4th Annual walkathon is really a special one for our youths. A well-known Philanthropist, Mr. Sunny Reddy, and his wife Dr. Sirisha Nemallapudi, MD from Smile Centers PC – Farmington have pledged to match every dollar donated up to $3500 . This generous offer effectively doubles the impact of each contribution, providing a significant boost to the walkathon's fundraising efforts. Our youths worked towards raising $3500 and they prospered in their goal. Mr. Sunny Reddy said, "Supporting our youth is an investment in the future. Their passion and dedication to making a positive change inspire me, and I am thrilled to contribute to their efforts. Together, we can make a meaningful difference." We had kind donors who came forward to cover the expenses Mr. Sarat Kothapalli, Mrs. Siri Yadalapali, and friends of Oviya. The youth-led walkathon is more than just a fundraising event; it is a community gathering that brings together individuals from all walks of life to support a common cause. Participants will walk, run, and celebrate the power of collective action, showcasing how every step counts in the journey toward positive change. Without these young team leads it is not possible for us to reach the goal and support as many families as we can.  On July 13, the final walkathon day, with 50+ participants, we kicked it off with a yoga session by Aruna from Art of Living . All participants were able to stretch their muscles before the long walk. Our wonderful youth team leads are: Avni Patel, Swara Rege, Abisrishti Ram, Kushi Kanumuri, Oviya Jaisankar, Anvika Perumalla, Hajanthan Muhinthan, Varshan Muhinthan, Abhiram Mudeganti, Sai Sriram Karnati, Advithi Kothapalli, Akshitha Mylavarapu,Rishi Chowdhury, Sreenika Perumalla, Aanya Das, Aarthi Ravikumar, Abhimanyu Kommareddi, Aditi Jethri Kompally, Akshith Ashwanth, Akul Madhamshetty, Ansh Patil, Anuraag Balaji, Arya Cheemalamari, Cordelia Laframboise, Harsh Ahire, Kaustubh Dingari, Sathvik Tirumala Kanduri, Shalini Srinivas, Shivani Nimmagadda, Shreya Shetty, Shruthi Adduri, Shruthika Pallapothu, Sriraam Hebbar, Teja Cheemalamari, Veena Karthik and Yathi shekar debbata. We had kind donors who came forward to cover the expenses Mr. Sarat Kothapalli, Mrs. Siri Yadalapali, and friends of Oviya. On top of achieving the goal of getting at least 4 team members, some team leads exceeded that! This year’s winners are: Individuals With the Most Miles 1st Place – Mr. Suresh 2nd Place – Sai Sriram Karnati 3rd Place – Ms. Vanitha Gopalan Team With the Most Miles 1st Place - Abisrishti Ram 2nd Place – Sai Sriram Karnati 3rd Place – Swara Rege Team Leads With the Most Members 1st Place – Avni Patel (18 Members) 2nd Place – Swara Rege (13 Members) 3rd Place – Kushi Kanumuri (12 Members)   Thanks to Mr. Jason Canvasser  for visiting us representing Angels of Hope. Jason explained about how Angels of Hope helps families impacted by cancer, it was really inspiring. Our youths were humbled to be part of the great cause. This year’s Walkathon would also not have been possible without the parents who sponsored the snacks and drinks that kept all the participants' energy up! Thanks to the parents ( Ms. Rachana, Mr. Ram, and Mr. Jordan Laframboise ) who sponsored water bottles, fruits, snack bars, and cookies. Thanks to Ms. Veena, Ms. Rachana  & Mr. Jaisankar for sponsoring decoration items. All the team leads received certificates at the end. Thanks to 𝐔𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐣𝐢 for website creation and for providing support with website maintenance and updates. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with setup to cleanup! We are very grateful for a successful Walkathon this year and thank all the contributors. Our youths use every opportunity to learn something. Michigan is blessed with beautiful 103 state parks and recreation areas. During our virtual walkathon, our youths had a virtual tour of 42 State Parks, they learned and posted details about them every day with their peers . Avni Patel: My experience in being one of the leaders in the Walkathon was very inspiring. Gathering members into my group to be a part of helping with the Angels of Hope was a very heartwarming feeling. This not only opened my eyes but also the participants' eyes in seeing how reality really is for some people in our community. Knowing that I have put together a team that can help others by helping to pay rent, utility bills, and groceries makes me feel very blessed. The Walkathon will help ensure that these lives will have a quick recovery. I hope hearing this will help inspire and motivate others to help out more for this cause as it helps by keeping people living a happy and healthy life! Swara Rege: This is my first time participating in the VT Seva Walkathon as a team leader. I feel truly grateful that I was able to raise funds to help cancer families through VT Seva and Angels of Hope! I lost my paternal grandmother to this dreadful disease a few years back so I felt a personal connection to this cause. I am also grateful that my maternal grandparents, uncle, and aunt joined my team and participated from India. Kushi Kanumuri: I am so grateful that I got this opportunity to help and contribute, to such a great project to support the Angels of Hope Foundation. It was very fun to help set up for the walkathon and also improve my social and public speaking skills with people, knocking on multiple doors while talking to participants to sign them up for the walkathon and raising money. I am very happy that I was part of such a great cause. It was an amazing experience. Abisrishti Ram: Being a team lead in this walkathon was a great experience. It was really nice to reach out to people and have them join my team for a good cause. All my team members put in a great amount of work and I’m so grateful for that I can’t wait to do this again next year and fundraise even more money! Oviya Jaisankar: The 4th annual youth-led walkathon was such an amazing experience; year after year it just gets better and better. The combination of competition and encouragement continues to make this month-long event something I look forward to every summer. We all have a friendly competition to see who can get the most team members and the most miles, this encourages all of us to strive to not only better the community but also to better ourselves by walking more and getting in more steps. I am so grateful and thankful to the wonderful people who joined my team this year, we truly could not succeed without everyone's support. I'm so glad that I was able to be a part of this event this year and I can't wait to do it again next year and support families impacted by cancer. Anvika Perumalla: As with every year, the walkathon is a wonderful opportunity in which VTSEVA encourages a large community to come together under one cause. Although there may not be a cure for cancer, everyone involved in the walkathon plays a large role in making this journey just a little bit easier for those fighting every day. I am very proud to be a contributor to this event every year and I hope to further this impact in the future as well. Abhiram Mudeganti: This year I really enjoyed my experience in the VT Seva Walkathon once again. It encouraged me to get more steps in every day and share this opportunity with others giving them a chance to support a great cause. I am very happy that I was able to contribute to the Angels of Hope Foundation and happy that I have shared this opportunity with others. Sai Sriram Karnati: Participating in the Walkathon to support Angels of Hope, who assist cancer families, and achieving second place was a truly rewarding experience for me. It was not just about the physical challenge but also about the opportunity to contribute to a cause that is close to my heart. Knowing that my team and my efforts directly supported cancer families and helped raise awareness made the entire journey incredibly meaningful. Coming in second place was a testament to my team's dedication and perseverance throughout the event. Thank you, VT Seva and Angels of Hope for this wonderful opportunity. Advithi Kothapalli: The walkathon was a really nice experience benefitting both me and the people in my team. I had the opportunity to reach out to people and raise money, while also promoting a healthy lifestyle. The walkathon was a huge source of motivation to walk every day, and I hope to do it again.   Aditi Jethri Kompally: I have been a team leader for more than 3 years, and I am glad to say that this walkathon exceeds my expectations every time. Being a team leader has been incredibly rewarding as I can converse with others and inform them about VTSEVA's goal and more. One of the most profound aspects is meeting families that have been impacted by cancer and how much they have persevered through different hardships. Thank you for giving me this wonderful memory. Akul Madhamshetty: As a first-time team leader, I felt a mix of nerves and excitement. But seeing over 200 walkers come together, united in their support for families fighting cancer, melted those nerves away. It wasn't just about raising funds; it was a vibrant community event, encouraging healthy habits and filling the air with hope. Leading my team and witnessing the positive impact firsthand left me feeling motivated and eager to contribute even more next year! Anuraag Balaji: The walkathon was a great experience as I had the opportunity to support a great cause while simultaneously improving my health in a friendly walking competition! Overall I'm glad to be part of such a fundraiser! Cordelia Laframboise: My experience with the Walkathon for Cancer was great! It was clear that everything was well-planned and organized. Not as many people as the previous walkathon showed up, but there was still a great amount of people. I definitely think that everyone was well hydrated and there were a lot of snacks because many people volunteered to bring snacks and drinks, which was amazing. I do wish more people from my school and other schools showed up so maybe like in the future we could change the date so it doesn’t interfere with SAT/ACT and everything like that. But other than that, I think it was fantastic and my family had a great time going.: Arya Cheemalamari: This is my fourth year participating as a team lead on the annual walkathon, and I have a couple of words to impart. How do we promote the community's health and fight for a great cause?  One of the many reasons that I love the walkathon is because of how versatile and effective the project is. The competitive environment incentivizes participants to walk and improve their health, and the money raised financially supports cancer patients who need and deserve it. We support these patients through another amazing non-profit, Angels Of Hope. Walking is an everyday part of life that I thoroughly enjoy, and to be able to add to this with the perk of helping cancer families adds to the experience. I am grateful for the impact I can have through VTSeva and hope to partake in this amazing experience next year. Teja Cheemalamari: This is my fourth year participating as a team lead in the annual hybrid walkathon. I believe supporting cancer patients on behalf of Angels of Hope is such a noble cause. Using the walkathon as a channel to provide care has allowed me to better myself while serving the public. Serving the society has always made me feel like a better version of myself. I believe the competition for fitness is also a great way to promote the health of our generation as a whole. Every step I take feels a step closer to a cancer-free and healthier society. It makes me feel very fulfilled and grateful to know that my actions are directly funneled to support those who need it. I really enjoyed participating in the Walkathon over the years and watching it grow. Thank you, VT Seva. Shruthi Adduri: This year was my first year as a team lead even though I have been a part of the walkathon for a while and it was nice to see another side to it. I am grateful that we impacted so many people by raising money for Angels of Hope. It was fun to walk with my family throughout the month and with my friends at the final event at the park! Shreya Shetty: This was my first year participating in the Walkathon. It was truly an empowering experience for me as I got to see how my work recruiting team members helped those impacted by cancer. It is truly a very burdening disease with many horrible impacts and I am grateful to have been part of an effort to reduce that burden. Shruthika Pallapothu: This is a wonderful initiative VT Seva took on to fundraise for Angels Of Hope. I feel very fortunate to take part in this, seeing the impact of the walkathon and knowing that the money is provided to families affected by cancer. I hope to join the walkathon again next year too and inspire others just like how it inspired me! Yathi Shekar Debbata: I was glad that I could join the walkathon not only I could walk for my health, but I could for a cause. Shalini Srinivas: I am delighted I had the opportunity to participate in the partnership between VT Seva and the Walkathon for Angels of Hope. No one can understand the hardship patients and their families have to go through other than themselves. I am glad I was able to help with the struggles that cancer and other illnesses can create. Not only did this event positively affect the patients, but it also helped those who participated in this event to stay more active and fit. Through this event, I was able to find the motivation to exercise, and so did my team members. I’m so grateful to have been part of this wonderful event.   VT Seva Detroit youths are eagerly waiting for 5th Annual Walkathon!!!
